  • Critically assess the challenges, ethical considerations, and future directions of integrating AI into oral microbiome-based diagnostics and therapies.

Course description

The convergence of oral microbiome research and artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping our understanding of oral health and disease. This session will explore how AI-driven tools are used to analyze complex microbial ecosystems, predict disease progression, and personalize preventive and therapeutic strategies in dentistry. Topics include machine learning applications in microbiome data analysis, predictive modeling of oral diseases, and the integration of microbiome profiles into clinical decision-making. Special emphasis will be placed on challenges such as data standardization, ethical considerations, and the translational potential of AI technologies. The session will highlight both the opportunities and limitations of leveraging AI in advancing oral microbiome science.
