What you'll learn

  • Explain the rationale for stem cell-derived dopamine cell therapies in Parkinson’s disease.

  • Distinguish between evidence-based stem cell therapies and unproven or experimental interventions.

  • Evaluate the potential impact of stem cell therapies on patient care in Parkinson’s disease.

Course description

This enduring online activity developed by the International Society for Stem Cell Research will provide clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of stem cell-based approaches for PD. As research progresses and patients increasingly seek information about emerging treatment options, clinicians are often challenged to provide clinical guidance on the potential role of such cellular therapeutics in addressing some of the motor features in PD. This enduring online activity will provide clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of stem cell-based approaches for PD, covering the biological rationale, current clinical trial outcomes, and how these strategies compare to existing and other advanced therapies. This course empowers participants to support patients in making safe, evidence-based decision-making about emerging treatment options.

Stem Cell Medicine: Parkinson's Disease is offered in two registration pathways:
